A fire broke out at a shopping center in Kut, a city in eastern Iraq, causing about 50 deaths.
On social media in the morning, the governor of Wasit Province, Maishi, stated that the tragic fire at the shopping center has resulted in about 50 casualties, including martyrs and the injured.
He pointed out that the fire occurred on the evening of the 16th, and the cause has yet to be determined.
He announced three days of mourning in the entire province, and local authorities will file lawsuits against the owners of the building and shopping center.
According to media reports, the shopping center had only been open for five days. Preliminary reports indicate that the fire started on the first floor.
