MIRI, Aug 28: The RM75 million lagoon theme park at Kenyalang Smart City (KSC) in Miri is set to become a new landmark for tourism and lifestyle in Northern Borneo.
Designed to elevate Sarawak’s presence on the international tourism map, the project is in line with the Sarawak Government’s Post-Covid Development Strategy (PCDS) 2030, which positions tourism as a key driver of economic growth. According to reports from the Sarawak Public Communication Unit (Ukas) and TVS, the project was formalised through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Imasa Dinasti Sdn Bhd (IDSB) and CM Waterparks, a global leader in theme park design and manufacturing, marking a significant milestone in realising this vision.
Imasa Dinasti chairman Teo Ah Khing said the nine-acre development will feature a concept built around safety, sustainability, and educational value.
The modern, world-class park will be able to accommodate more than 6,000 visitors at a time and is expected to attract both domestic and international tourists, generating strong economic activity.

More than just a leisure destination, the Lagoon Theme Park will also emphasise education, with initiatives such as the Children’s Life Skills Role-Play Programme designed to nurture a competitive and resilient younger generation.
By blending entertainment, education, and innovation, the project strengthens the vision of Kenyalang Smart City as a smart and sustainable urban hub. It is also poised to stand as a symbol of pride for Miri and a premier tourism landmark in Northern Borneo.
“When Kenyalang Smart City is fully completed, it will not only provide living and working spaces but also a balanced lifestyle supported by world-class recreational facilities,” Teo added.
