IU Rarely Talks About Her View on Love After 4 Years Dating Lee Jong Suk: 'Love Should Not Expect Understanding from the Other Party'

Korean star IU has been quietly dating actor Lee Jong Suk for four years. Recently, during behind-the-scenes filming for the Korean drama "Queen of Tears," she shared her views on love.

IU talked about her character, Hee Joo, who gave up almost all her self-esteem for love and hoped even more that Ryeon, played by Byeon Woo Seok, would understand her. IU stated: "If you hope the other person will understand you, it might mean you don't love them that deeply yet, because love is not about expecting the other party to always understand you."

When asked whether this was IU's own view on love or her character's, IU answered: "It's my own philosophy. Hee Joo probably has never really been in love, so she might not have this philosophy."
