(Bandar Seri Begawan, 23rd) The Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD) Library, in collaboration with the ASEAN University Network (AUN) and AUNILO, has commenced the 20th ASEAN University Network Inter-Library Online (AUNILO) meeting yesterday, which will be held over three days.
This year's conference theme is "Building Future-Ready Libraries Through Digital Innovation and Sustainable Development," bringing together university librarians and knowledge leaders from across Southeast Asia to jointly explore how libraries can embrace digital transformation and environmentally responsible practices in an era of rapid change.
UBD Assistant Vice-Chancellor (Student Affairs & Governance) Maudena expressed that UBD is honored to host this significant milestone event.
"As we warmly welcome ASEAN University Network (AUN) partners to our country, we also celebrate our renewed commitment to advancing higher education in ASEAN, built on a foundation of mutual respect, innovation, and a shared regional identity."
This year's event is attended by more than 40 representatives from 24 institutions across eight ASEAN member countries, including the host UBD.
The three-day program includes national report presentations, business meetings, interactive workshops, as well as exchange and cultural activities aimed at promoting Brunei's rich cultural heritage.
Discussions will center on topics such as integrating sustainable technologies into library operations, leveraging artificial intelligence and automation to enhance library services, ensuring long-term preservation and accessibility of digital resources, and fostering collaboration and the sharing of best practices among ASEAN institutions. The AUNILO meeting, now in its 20th year, will continue to serve as a strategic platform for knowledge exchange, professional development, and innovation among academic libraries in the ASEAN region.
