(Bandar Seri Begawan, 13th) The Royal Brunei Police Force recently held a two-day 'Strengthening Neighborhood Watch' roadshow at an international hotel in Gadong, which concluded successfully with a closing ceremony. Sixty participants were awarded certificates of completion. This roadshow is a continuation of the 'Neighborhood Watch Basic Training Course' previously held in Brunei’s four districts. Acting Head of the Criminal Investigation Department, Senior Superintendent Hamilton, attended as the guest of honor and presented certificates to the participants.
Officers and personnel from the Brunei Muara Police District and the Public Relations Department were also present; they are also staff members of the Neighborhood Watch Secretariat. What made this roadshow special was the cooperation with the private sector—in addition to the village heads and residents under the Muara District's jurisdiction, security personnel from Gadong Mall and employees from local businesses also participated.
Besides presentations by officials from the Police Development Bureau, the roadshow also received support from officers of other security agencies, including the Attorney General’s Chambers, Narcotics Control Bureau, Internal Security Department, Ministry of Religious Affairs, as well as the Royal Brunei Customs and Excise Department. Each delivered relevant presentations to the participants.
The purpose of this roadshow was to enhance participants' understanding of the Neighborhood Watch members’ responsibilities and relevant laws, and to make them aware that in the event of incidents, actions should be taken according to established protocols. The police hope such seminars can play a positive role, encouraging participants to work together to realize the Police Force’s vision and goals in preventing, combating, and punishing crime in the country.
