Shanghai Siba Culture Media Group Co., Ltd. today (16th) issued an obituary: the company's founder, Wang Zijie, due to sudden cardiac disease and unsuccessful rescue, passed away in Shanghai at 19:00 on April 14, at the age of 63.
The obituary stated that Wang Zijie founded 9you.com in 2003 and established the girl idol group SNH48 in 2012. He had won many honors such as "Most Influential Person in China's Game Industry" and the "Shanghai Magnolia Memorial Award." He made significant contributions to the development of China's interactive entertainment industry, and his achievements and spirit will be remembered for a long time.
In December 2025, the contract dispute between SNH48 member Ju Jingyi and Siba Media escalated once again. According to Siba Media's lawsuit, Ju Jingyi's contract extends to August 2033. However, Ju Jingyi's side claimed that the contract ends in June 2024 and accused Siba of "forging the artist's signature and authorization."
At that time, former SNH48 member Zeng Yanfeng also published multiple articles supporting Ju Jingyi and accused Siba Media of issues such as wage arrears, commission deductions, and other financial contract disputes. She also revealed scandals such as SNH48 members being required to attend drinking events.
In March this year, Siba Media reported Ju Jingyi for alleged tax evasion. In response, Ju Jingyi's side denied any tax evasion and accused Siba Media of defamation. On the evening of March 31, the Inspection Bureau of the State Administration of Taxation Shanghai Office of the CPC issued a notice responding to the real-name complaint regarding tax-related matters involving someone surnamed Ju. The notice stated that, after investigation, no tax-related issues as reflected in the report were found.
