A Red Wings Airlines Boeing 777 passenger plane made an emergency return after an engine caught fire on the 3rd, landing safely at Moscow's Domodedovo Airport with no injuries reported. The Russian aviation authority is conducting an investigation.
The RWZ3097 flight took off from Domodedovo Airport at 9:19 PM Moscow time, with its destination set for Phuket, Thailand.
Shortly after takeoff, the pilot reported that one engine had caught fire. After the engine fire suppression system extinguished the fire, the plane made an emergency return, arriving back at Domodedovo Airport at 10:53 PM.
According to the Russian aviation authority, there were 412 passengers and 13 crew members on board, with no injuries.
The cause of the engine fire is under further investigation.
