(Bandar Seri Begawan, 16th) The Brunei Competition Commission (CCBD), through its Executive Secretariat, recently collaborated with the UBD School of Business to hold an awareness seminar entitled “Fair Competition in Brunei: An Overview of the Competition Order (Chapter 253)”.
This seminar was part of the UBD School of Business’ seminar series and attracted the participation of students and lecturers, aiming to deepen their understanding of the country’s economic policy and regulatory framework.
During the event, officials from the Executive Secretariat of the Brunei Competition Commission outlined the Competition Order (Chapter 253), covering prohibitions against anti-competitive agreements, abuse of market dominance, and mergers that substantially lessen competition. The presentation highlighted how the law supports a fair and efficient market for the benefit of both consumers and businesses.
Participants also learned about the importance of enforcing competition law through real cases from the region, as well as how anti-competitive conduct can harm markets. The session featured an interactive Q&A segment that encouraged active discussion among attendees.
The Brunei Competition Commission stated that through such awareness activities, it will continue to raise awareness of the Competition Order among students, educators, and future professionals, foster a culture of compliance and integrity, and support the goals of Brunei Vision 2035 in building a dynamic and sustainable economy.
This initiative is part of CCBD’s long-term advocacy of the benefits of competition and the cultivation of a culture of compliance, aiming to promote Brunei’s sustainable economic development.
