(Thailand, 19th) — After discovering a mass cheating scandal in local government recruitment exams, Thai authorities have announced the cancellation of the results of 5,924 candidates.
According to Thai media outlet The Thaiger, the Central Examination Committee of the Ministry of Interior held a meeting yesterday (17th) lasting about three hours and announced the above decision, noting that the highest rate of falsified results was found in the southern region.
The Permanent Secretary of the Interior Ministry, Unsit Sampuntharat, stated that after rechecking over 270,000 out of more than 400,000 candidates’ results, authorities found abnormal scores in 5,924 cases—an increase of 110 people compared to the previously announced figure of 5,814.

He said that the authorities will revoke the results of all candidates with abnormal scores and will recalculate the ranking based on verified results.
He also stated that the results have been cross-checked with evidence held by the National Anti-Corruption Commission, and thus there will be no arrangements for a retest.
According to reports, affected candidates may still appeal to the administrative court, and the Department of Local Administration has formed a legal team to handle the potential wave of lawsuits.
Meanwhile, the committee has also ordered a criminal investigation into anyone involved in tampering with scores, including contractors and personnel responsible for handling exam data.
