KUCHING, Oct 8: A food delivery rider was killed in an accident that occurred at Jalan Kota Samarahan-Kuching on Monday night (Oct 6).
In a statement, Kota Samarahan police chief Supt Damataries Lautin said that in the 9.45pm accident, the victim, 23-year-old Muhammad Haziq Irfan Zakaria, got into a collision with a car driven by a 46-year-old man.
“The car driver, travelling from Kuching towards Taman Berlian in Kota Samarahan, was about to move at the traffic light on Jalan Kota Samarahan-Kuching when the motorcycle suddenly collided with the right side of his vehicle.
“As a result of the collision, the motorcycle rider was pronounced dead at the scene by a medical assistant at 10.07pm, and the body was sent to the Forensic Unit of Sarawak General Hospital (SGH),” he said.
The car driver was unharmed, and the case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
