(Bandar Seri Begawan, 24th) - Taiwan’s Foreign Minister Lin Chia-lung announced on social media yesterday that, effective immediately, holders of the Republic of China (Taiwan) passport can enter Brunei visa-free for stays of up to 14 days. Brunei is now the third New Southbound country, after Thailand and the Philippines, to open visa-free entry to Taiwan.

Lin Chia-lung posted on Facebook Sunday evening, stating that the Bruneian government has announced visa-free entry for Taiwanese passport holders, with a maximum stay of 14 days.

He pointed out that Taiwan has long upheld goodwill and promoted reciprocal exchange policies, receiving positive responses from multiple countries. Now, Thailand, the Philippines, and Brunei have all realized reciprocal visa exemption.

Lin stated this achievement is an important milestone in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' comprehensive diplomacy policy over the past year and has greatly encouraged diplomatic staff.

He also specifically thanked the governments and diplomats of both Taiwan and Brunei for their persistent efforts and communication, believing the Bruneian government has demonstrated pragmatism and sincere intent to deepen bilateral friendship.

He emphasized that this visa exemption policy will further promote exchanges and cooperation between Taiwan and Brunei in areas such as trade, tourism, culture, and education, injecting more vitality into Taiwan-Brunei relations.
