Guarding Blossoms for Thirty-Four Years, Devoted to the Classroom—Teacher Chan Fung Yong Retires with Honor

(Miri, 18th) At her retirement ceremony, Miri Chong Hwa School’s Teacher Chan Fung Yong expressed in her speech that she was filled with gratitude and reluctance at this moment.
She described today as not only the end of her long educational journey, but also the starting point of a new chapter in life.
Looking back on her years of teaching, she remarked that the years are like a book, turning page by page, filled with responsibility, dedication, and gratitude. No matter how times change, she has always taken pride in being a Chinese primary school teacher, and encouraged herself with the thought: 'Education is like the slow blooming of a flower, and teachers are the ones who guard these blossoms.' And this act of guarding has lasted 34 years.
Chan Fung Yong stated that retirement does not mean parting from education. In the future, she will continue to care for the growth of children in her life, silently cheering on the school's development. She is also confident that the baton of education has now been passed to the younger teachers, believing that the new generation will go higher and farther.

She especially thanked the school for the trust and tolerance given to her over the years, allowing her to work with peace of mind in her educational post; at the same time, she also thanked her colleagues for their support and companionship along the way, helping her not to shrink from difficulty, giving her someone to consult in times of confusion, and letting her feel warmth and strength in ordinary days.
She also extended her heartfelt thanks to her students, saying it was their smiles, diligent eyes, and steps of growth that gave true meaning to her career.
She said that the greatest happiness is not standing at the podium, but watching students grow bit by bit.
In her speech, she also sincerely wished everyone present good health and lasting happiness. She wished the children to continue growing with kindness and courage, that the school’s tomorrow will be even better, and that every teacher will be treated with gentleness.
