(Miri, 11th) The Miri police yesterday detained two local men suspected to be involved in a break-in and theft case at a clothing store in Marina Phase 2, with preliminary estimated losses of about RM6,000.
Miri District Police Chief ACP Mohd Farhan Lee Abdullah stated that the two suspects, aged 40 and 47 respectively, were arrested by the police on Monday based on intelligence at a budget hotel in Miri city.
He said, “Police also seized several pieces of evidence believed to be related to the break-in and theft case. The incident occurred in the early hours, resulting in losses of about RM6,000 for the store owner.”
He added that the police are currently investigating the case under Section 457 of the Penal Code, and they will apply to the court to further remand the two suspects to assist in the ongoing investigation.
Mohd Farhan emphasized that the quick resolution of this case was due to the ongoing coordinated operations and intelligence gathering by the police in the city.
He also advised the public, especially business operators, to enhance their security measures.
He said, “Be sure to install CCTV and alarm systems in your shops to reduce the risk of crime.”
