Last month on the 18th, actress Jiang Zuping revealed that a male TV station employee was involved in sexual assault and secretly filming female actors. In recent days, she further released a photo of the man, his name, and screenshots of conversations where he sexually harassed other female staff, saying, "I hope his final destination is prison." A “featured extra” (an actor with lines), a female actress, tearfully confided to Jiang Zuping that she had been sexually assaulted and secretly filmed by an internal TV station staff member, but had nowhere to turn for help. On August 18th, Jiang Zuping voiced support for the actress via social media, calling on the industry to respect women: “This really needs to be addressed.”
Jiang Zuping even posted a partial image of the suspected perpetrator, alleging he is around 25 years old and has already left the company. One photo showed clothing imprinted with the SET letters, suggesting the suspect is the son of a senior SET vice president. In response, senior SET vice president Gong Meifu issued a statement: “As a SET executive, I will recuse myself. The company has launched an investigation, and I will certainly cooperate with company procedure.”
As of press time, the man in question has switched his social media accounts to private or locked them, and removed his profile pictures. His father has also locked down his Facebook page. This controversy, which began on August 18th, has persisted for 18 days.
