Awang Putrayusrie: KASUMeS Promotes Media Unity; Northern Region Sports Carnival Concludes Successfully

(Miri, 24th) In conjunction with the Sarawak Northern Region Celebration of the 2025 National News Day, Awang Putrayusrie, Director of Sarawak Public Communications Unit under the Sarawak Premier's Department, pointed out that the 'Sarawak Media Sports Carnival' (KASUMeS) not only helps to strengthen the connection between media entities but also serves as an important platform to promote a healthy lifestyle and release work pressure.

He stated that media personnel work in a high-pressure environment, and organizing such recreational activities can effectively boost morale, foster team spirit, and provide an opportunity for interactive exchange.

'Through the Media Sports Carnival, we not only foster friendships among media personnel but also advocate for healthy living habits. We hope media people can take this opportunity to relieve stress and generate positive energy.'

Mixed doubles finals for pickleball.He made these remarks while attending the opening ceremony of the Sarawak Media Sports Carnival Northern Region event this morning. This event is one of the three major projects of the 2025 National News Day Sarawak Celebration, organized by the Sarawak Public Communications Unit, in cooperation with the Northern Sarawak Journalists Association and related units, with competitions including pickleball and darts.

He mentioned that the Sarawak Media Sports Carnival was first held in the Sibu central region on the 15th of this month, attracting media participation from areas including Sibu, Mukah, Kapit, Sarikei, and Bintulu; Kuching will host the southern region. Besides the Sarawak Media Sports Carnival, the 2025 National News Day Sarawak series of activities also includes the 'Sarawak Media Conference' (SMeC 2025) and 'Media Tea Party' to be held in Kuching.

'I hope the 2025 Sarawak Media Sports Carnival is not just a competition, but a starting point for building long-term relationships between the Sarawak Public Communications Unit and the media.'

He also acknowledged the media as strategic partners of the Sarawak Public Communications Unit, playing important roles over the years in delivering accurate government information and promoting policy communication.

'The media has made invaluable contributions in shaping the public's understanding and cognition regarding government policies. The Sarawak Public Communications Unit highly appreciates the professional spirit and honest reporting of media personnel, contributing significantly to creating an environment of information transparency and societal trust.'

Darts competition in progress.He emphasized that the Sarawak Public Communications Unit will continue to strengthen collaboration with local media to ensure the information received by the public is truthful and credible, contributing to developing a knowledgeable, competitive Sarawak society.

Additionally, he urged media personnel from the northern region, including Miri, Bintulu, and Limbang, to actively participate in the competitive events, showcasing strength and honing skills with sportsmanship and professional attitude, while also taking the opportunity to build deeper connections and collaborative relationships.

'I hope this Sports Carnival becomes a much-anticipated annual event for the media circle, serving as a model for encouraging healthy living and promoting unity and collaboration.'

He expressed gratitude to all committee members, sponsoring units, and volunteer teams for their hard work in making the event a successful endeavor.
