During Typhoon Gaemi's (Zhu Jie Cao) impact on Shanghai, a video circulating on social media showing the 'LV giant ship braving the floods' sparked widespread discussion.
In the video, torrents of floodwater can be seen next to the LV ship-shaped building located in the Jing'an Nanjing West Road business district, with the ship itself even seemingly leaking water—creating a highly dramatic visual.
However, after verification by the Shanghai Rumor Dispelling Platform and relevant authorities, the video has been confirmed as false information and was fabricated using technical means. The creator and distributors are currently under investigation.
Many netizens in the vicinity also proactively posted real-time photos to debunk the rumor: the local roads were not visibly flooded and traffic was smooth.
As LV's third global art landmark inspired by the classic trunk, this 'giant ship' architectural landmark was officially unveiled in June 2025. It is the only LV concept landmark globally to feature a ship design.
This building covers a total area of 1,600 square meters, comprising exhibition, boutique, dining, and other multifunctional spaces. It echoes Shanghai’s historical role as an international shipping center and has become a new check-in hotspot in the Nanjing West Road business district.
