(Kuching, 28th) At the launch ceremony of the Asia Pacific Aerospace Conference and Exhibition 2026 (APACE 2026), a total of seven strategic Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) were signed, marking a significant step towards the development of Sarawak's aerospace ecosystem.
This event was organized by the Sarawak Ministry of Education, Innovation and Talent Development (MEITD), and co-organized by Borneo Business Connect Sdn Bhd, bringing together leaders from government, industry, academia, and technology to jointly promote collaboration, talent cultivation, and innovation in the aerospace value chain.
One key MoU is the collaboration between MEITD Sarawak and the Social Security Organization (PERKESO) to strengthen the state's talent ecosystem. The partnership focuses on enhancing graduates' employability, expanding social insurance coverage via the MYFutureJobs platform, coordinating retraining and upskilling programs, and integrating talent data to establish a unified Sarawak workforce database.
i-CATS University College, Sarawak's Security and Enforcement Unit (UKPS), and Turkish Aerospace Malaysia (TUSAS) signed an agreement to advance next-generation aerospace technology development, including unmanned systems, aerospace systems engineering, and avionics, while also fostering local talent development.
i-CATS University College also partnered with H2 Energy Sdn Bhd to support Sarawak's hydrogen strategy in clean aviation, logistics, and disaster response. The cooperation will focus on deploying hydrogen-powered drones in remote areas for rural logistics, emergency response, and delivery of medicine, vaccines, and essential supplies.
Sarawak Skills Development Centre (Sarawak Skills) signed two MoUs, one with Prima Tech Solution Sdn Bhd to offer skills enhancement courses, customized aviation courses, internships, and employment channels; and another with Borneo Aerospace Sdn Bhd to promote advanced and urban air mobility (UAM) as well as autonomous flight technology training. This initiative also plans to establish a low-altitude aviation and drone learning center in Sarawak.
Sarawak Information Systems Sdn Bhd (SAINS) and EarthEye Space Technologies Pte. Ltd. have partnered to enhance the state's capabilities in space-based remote sensing and earth observation intelligence. The collaboration will focus on processing, analyzing, and extracting data from synthetic aperture radar and optical satellite imagery for infrastructure planning, disaster management, and environmental monitoring.
At the same time, CENTEXS (Sarawak Centre of Technical Excellence) will collaborate with Tsinghua University and Asia Pacific Professional Development Sdn Bhd in training, research, and pilot projects in artificial intelligence, robotics, green mining, and aerospace launch systems. This partnership will provide CENTEXS graduates with a structured pathway to enter related courses at Tsinghua University, while also driving technology transfer and certification.
APACE 2026 will be held at Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK) from January 27 to 29, continuing to gather regional and international stakeholders in aerospace manufacturing, aviation services, space technology, and talent development. The exhibition is open to the public, offering visitors opportunities to explore aerospace innovation, technologies, and career development.
