'Taiwanese Women’s Boxing Champion' Lin Yu-Ting was subjected to gender bullying by many celebrities, including 'Harry Potter' author J.K. Rowling, during the Paris Olympics last year. Recently, the UK Supreme Court ruled that transgender women should not be legally regarded as women. In response, J.K. Rowling posted a photo on X (formerly known as Twitter) of herself toasting and smoking a cigar, celebrating with the caption: 'I love it when a plan comes together.'
According to foreign media reports, the Scottish Parliament passed a law seven years ago to ensure gender balance on public sector boards, which led to a lawsuit by the 'For Women Scotland' (FWS) opposing the inclusion of transgender individuals with a 'Gender Recognition Certificate' (GRC) in female quotas. The law was argued to indirectly allow the 'female quotas' in Parliament to be occupied by 'transgender, biologically male' individuals, thereby reducing the quotas for actual females.
In response, on April 16 this year, the UK Supreme Court ruled that the term 'female' should refer to 'biological females' instead of an individual's self-identified gender, meaning that 'transgender women' should not be regarded as 'women'. Regarding this, J.K. Rowling commented in an interview: 'This is a victory for all women,' supporting the UK Supreme Court's decision and backing the three Scottish women who initiated the lawsuit.
