A horrific family murder case has occurred in Taiwan. In Luzhou District, New Taipei City, a pair of septuagenarian spouses were brutally stabbed to death by their son, who was financially dependent on them. The entire incident was captured by the home’s CCTV. The two victims suffered a total of 37 stab wounds, each deep to the bone, with nearly all of their blood drained—leaving forensic personnel with nowhere to step.
Son Complained Parents Were Too Strict
The suspect cruelly killed his father and mother and then fled by car. After a two-day manhunt, police arrested the suspect at 6:15 pm on the 19th and recovered a utility knife, which was brought back to the police station for investigation. In initial statements, the suspect claimed his parents were very strict, had physically and verbally abused him since childhood, and that he had had a poor relationship with them for a long time—he said he had endured for a long time before buying the knife and planning the crime. The exact motive is still under investigation.
According to Taiwanese media reports, the murder occurred in Luzhou District, New Taipei City. The elderly couple, who sold scallion pancakes at a street stall, were discovered dead on the 18th after the male victim’s cousin lost contact with them and called police. Upon forcibly entering the residence, police found the male and female heads of the household lying dead in pools of blood in the living room, both bearing multiple stab wounds.
Washed Knife, Changed Clothes, Fled After the Crime
According to on-site CCTV footage, neighbor testimony, and initial forensic assessment, police believe the murder took place around 4 pm on the 17th. Surveillance clearly captured Mr. Liao killing his parents, cleaning the knife, changing into clean clothes, and escaping.
Police stated the suspect, surnamed Liao, was a drug addict. CCTV showed him fleeing in a panicked state on an electric scooter after the crime. The two victims sustained 37 stab wounds collectively, each wound deep to the bone. Because of the severity of their injuries, nearly all their blood was lost, flooding the crime scene and leaving almost no clean space for forensic personnel to stand.
After a 27-hour nonstop search, police finally arrested Mr. Liao at around 6 pm on the 19th and brought him back to Luzhou Substation. The case is still under investigation.
