Cable Theft on Downtrack: Man Caught Red-handed

Published at Jun 07, 2026 11:09 am
(Klang, 7th) - A man was suspected of attempting to steal cables within the downtrack area at the 36.215 km point in Klang, and was apprehended on the spot by auxiliary police of the railway company (KTMB) and local police.

The railway company announced in a statement on Facebook that their patrol team rushed to the scene to investigate after receiving a report of irregularities in the track circuit at the aforementioned section, and subsequently discovered a suspicious-looking man stealing cables within the railway premises.

The railway company's auxiliary police and Klang South District Police's Criminal Investigation Team immediately launched a joint operation, and at around 1:15 pm yesterday, they successfully arrested the suspect.

"Upon further inspection, several rolls of cables and tools suspected to have been used in the crime were found at the scene. Subsequent technical examinations also confirmed that the track circuit interruption was indeed caused by cable theft."

The company stated that the suspect and the retrieved items have been handed over to the police for further investigation.

The railway company reiterated that any illegal trespass or destruction of rail assets are considered serious offences, contravening the 1991 Railways Act and the 2010 Land Public Transport Act. Convicted offenders may face fines, imprisonment, or both.
