(Bandar Seri Begawan, 1st) The Brunei Safety, Health, and Environment National Authority (SHENA), in collaboration with the Ministry of Education, recently held a children's safety education promotion event at Beribi Danau Primary School. The aim was to instill basic concepts of safety and health in students through interactive and effective learning methods.
This event is one of the Authority's significant initiatives dedicated to cultivating safety awareness and a sense of responsibility among youth groups. It also encourages students to consciously develop good safety habits not only on campus but also at home and in their daily lives.
The seminar involved 49 participating students, with a wide range of course content including safety knowledge explanations, practical exercises, and team challenges—all designed to comprehensively enhance students’ safety awareness, communication skills, and self-confidence.
One of the highlights of the activity was the immersive virtual reality learning experience. Students identified potential hazards, explored safety risks, and practiced making correct decisions in realistic simulated scenarios, further reinforcing their learning outcomes.
This innovative teaching model demonstrated the Authority’s commitment to the active use of emerging tools in safety education, making the learning process both practical and enjoyable. Under the careful guidance of SHENA personnel and teachers, students participated enthusiastically and demonstrated high levels of engagement.
The activity also evaluated participation, team spirit, and overall performance through a points-based system, and special recognition was awarded to outstanding teams. Students received commemorative prizes and certificates in recognition of their proactive involvement.
The children's safety education promotion event is one of the Authority's long-term plans to promote nationwide safety awareness and advocate the “safety first” concept, aiming to reach broader age groups and continuously improve the overall safety culture of society.
