2 women killed, 1 man injured in crash at Pan Borneo Highway Betong-Sarikei road

KUCHING, Sept 3: Two women were killed while a man sustained serious injuries in a single-vehicle crash along the Betong-Sarikei stretch of the Pan Borneo Highway near Rumah Panjang Melayu Ulu yesterday.

According to the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba), an emergency call was received at 5.58pm, and firefighters from the Betong station were deployed.
Upon arrival, rescuers found that a sport utility vehicle (SUV) had skidded off the road and crashed, leaving three victims trapped in the wreckage—a man in his 40s in the driver’s seat and two women, one in her 40s and another in her 20s, in the front and back passenger seats.

Firefighters extricated the victims by 7.15pm, but both women were pronounced dead at the scene by medical personnel from the Ministry of Health (MoH). The man, who sustained serious injuries, was rushed to the hospital for further treatment.

The victims’ identities have yet to be confirmed, as no identification documents were found at the scene.
