(Bangkok, 19th) – A Chinese man fell victim to a theft scheme at the famous tourist destination of Pattaya Beach, Thailand. The suspected perpetrator is believed to be a transgender individual, with a loss of approximately 20,000 baht. The incident has drawn public attention to local security concerns.

According to Thai media reports, the incident occurred in the early hours of the 19th of this month. The victim, a man surnamed Zhang, reported the case to the Pattaya police, stating that he had met a transgender individual at the beach. The individual initiated conversation and offered to accompany him to his hotel. After arriving at the hotel room, Zhang went to take a shower; during this time, the suspect seized the opportunity to steal 20,000 baht in cash from his bag and quickly fled.

Zhang stated that the other party was very friendly during the approach, causing him to lower his guard. He did not expect the brief encounter would turn into a theft setup. Afterwards, he immediately went to the police to report the case.

The police are currently using surveillance footage to trace the suspect's identity, and have called on the public to remain vigilant, especially when approached by strangers.

It is understood that this is not the first time a similar scam has been reported. Just recently, an Indian tourist in Pattaya experienced a similar incident, and the suspect remains at large. The frequent thefts have raised concerns about the security of both residents and tourists.

The public is urging the police to increase patrols and expedite investigations, in order to maintain Pattaya’s image as an international tourist city and to ensure the safety of visitors and their property.
