Thai Prime Minister Anutin has ordered the military to fully defend national sovereignty and ensure the safety of the people, instructing the governors of four border provinces to swiftly organize the evacuation of residents to designated shelters.
On the 7th, Thai government spokesperson Siripong stated that the Prime Minister is aware of and closely monitoring the situation, instructing the Ministry of Defense and the military to take action to safeguard national sovereignty and to do their utmost to ensure the safety of the people. He also emphasized that the governors of each province must facilitate the evacuation of residents to safe locations and strictly implement the emergency response plan.
He pointed out that the government is urging residents living in the four border provinces of Buriram, Surin, Sisaket, and Ubon Ratchathani to follow the established evacuation plan and go to the designated shelters to ensure their safety. The situation remains unstable, and relevant departments are closely monitoring the situation locally. The conflict between the two sides could further escalate.
On the same day, Thai Prime Minister's Office Secretary-General Therasuri also announced that Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin and Minister of Defense Natthapol will visit the four border provinces on the Thai-Cambodian border on the 8th.
On the 7th, Thai and Cambodian forces exchanged fire in the Sisaket area. Since May of this year, numerous clashes have erupted in the border regions between Thailand and Cambodia due to territorial disputes.
