Staggering Alimony Plus Housing and Driver Provided – Ronald Cheng's Father Feels 'Huge Burden'

Ronald Cheng and his second wife Sammie Yu have a son and a daughter, but their 14-year marriage still ended in divorce and went to court. Previously, it was reported that he was only willing to pay each child a monthly alimony of 8,000 Hong Kong dollars (around 3,338 MYR), which totals about 60,000 NTD (around 8,626 MYR) for two children. She was not satisfied and thus resolved the matter through legal channels.

Ronald Cheng issued a statement denying the 8,000 HKD claim, so what is the actual alimony he pays? His father, Norman Cheng, accompanied him to the family court and stated, "It’s a six-digit sum or more each month (over 100,000 HKD, about 54,000 MYR), and besides the six-digit amount, there are other things. The children’s residence, schooling, and a driver are all provided." Norman Cheng stated that the full alimony is paid by his son and has nothing to do with him, “I believe the burden is very big for my son as well.”

Norman Cheng also said that although his son and Sammie Yu are still negotiating divorce terms, he can still visit his grandchildren, and the children already know about the divorce and have accepted it. It was previously rumored that Ronald Cheng went to the US last year for an alcohol rehab program, and Sammie Yu also went to the US to accompany him, implying the marriage was still intact at that time? But Norman Cheng pointed out that it was actually Ronald Cheng’s mother who accompanied him to the US last October, and Sammie Yu did not go.
