(Sibu, 11th) — The Sarawak Government, through the Sarawak Chinese Primary School Advisory Committee, has allocated RM5 million to provide smart classroom facilities for all Chinese primary schools in Sarawak.
Deputy Minister of Public Health, Housing and Local Government Datuk Michael Tiang said that this allocation will also be used to prepare electronic reference materials for Mathematics and Science subjects, to assist students who will soon be moving from primary to secondary school.
He said: “A total of 369 classrooms across Sarawak will be upgraded through this funding.

“This initiative aims to cultivate interest in science and technology learning among Chinese primary school students. Interactive, appealing, and internet-based smart classrooms will help improve the quality of student learning.”
He made these remarks yesterday at a well-known hotel in Sibu, during a smart classroom handover ceremony for four Chinese primary schools in Sibu.
The four beneficiary schools are:
SJKC Kiew Nang, SJKC Dung Sang, SJKC Su Lai, and SJKC Kiang Hin, with a total of 68 classrooms being upgraded in this phase.
As the Pelawan state assemblyman, Michael Tiang pointed out that using interactive equipment like this is an important step in introducing more efficient teaching methods to students.
He said: “This allocation demonstrates the Sarawak Government’s commitment to fairness in educational assistance, ensuring that both mainstream and Chinese primary schools receive equal support.”
