2 Chinese Nationals Killed in Cambodia, 7 Suspects Arrested

Recently, two Chinese citizens went missing at a hotel in Sihanoukville, Preah Sihanouk Province, Cambodia. Days later, their bodies were found in a river, drawing widespread attention.

On the 4th, a Nandu N Video journalist learned from the Criminal Police Department of the National Police General Commission of Cambodia that both victims, one male and one female, were confirmed to have been murdered. According to local police, on July 31 and August 2 local time, seven suspects were arrested. All seven suspects are Chinese men. Except for one whose age is unknown, the other six are aged between 32 and 48.

According to a notice issued on the 4th by the Criminal Police Department of the National Police General Commission of Cambodia, the Chinese victims were ZHANG RUJU (female, 43) and DONG YUANYUAN (male, 39), who went missing on July 18 at a hotel in Sihanoukville, Preah Sihanouk Province. On July 23, police found their bodies in the Basa River in a village in Khsach Kandal District, Kandal Province, confirming both had been murdered and dumped in the river.

Following the case, under the instructions of the Director of the National Police General Commission's Criminal Police Department, the deputy director led a team, along with the Sihanoukville and Kandal police bureaus, to carry out a professional investigation, successfully identifying the suspects and their hiding places.

Police stated that on July 31 local time, during a joint operation at the highway exit of Sihanoukville City, Sihanoukville Province, three Chinese suspects were arrested: REN JIASHENG (male, 36), JIANG BAO (male, 48), and YE YIYONG (male, age unknown).

On August 2 at 5:20 p.m. local time, police continued their operation in a residential area of Phnom Penh and arrested another four Chinese suspects: HUANG YONG (male, 39), XIONG QANG HAI (male, 40), CHAN XING (male, 32), and LAI GUO QIANG (male, 48).

Currently, the Criminal Police Department has transferred the seven suspects to the Sihanoukville Police Bureau for further legal procedures.

Chinese Embassy: Urges Cambodia to Severely Punish Perpetrators

On the evening of the 4th, the Chinese Embassy in Cambodia issued a statement saying that recently, two murder cases involving Chinese citizens occurred in Phnom Penh and Kandal Province, Cambodia. The Chinese Embassy immediately made representations to the Cambodian side, urging police to quickly solve the cases, arrest the suspects, and severely punish the perpetrators, so as to fully protect the safety of Chinese citizens and their property in Cambodia. Cambodian police have arrested several Chinese suspects involved in the criminal case in Kandal Province, and the relevant cases are under investigation and trial.
