Nurul's Candidacy Difficult to Avoid Nepotism Concerns - Rafizi: Party Needs to be Ready to Address Doubts

(Kuala Lumpur, 11th) The People's Justice Party's acting deputy president, Datuk Seri Rafizi Ramli, stated that the party should be prepared to address public doubts, including those from critics, especially the opposition.
He believes that Nurul Izzah's candidacy will make it unavoidable for the party to escape criticism regarding nepotism.
"When Nurul Izzah decided to run, the issue of nepotism cannot be sidelined because people will have their own views on it, which requires Nurul Izzah to explain. I do not want to discuss this issue further."
He added that this will also become one of the topics for grassroots discussion before the 16th general election, and the party must respond cautiously.
Rafizi made these remarks during a podcast participation on Saturday night.
He reiterated that Nurul Izzah has sufficient reasons to run, and he respects her position.
"I have absolutely no problem if Nurul Izzah takes on the role of 'commander'."
He pointed out that one of the tasks of the deputy president is to lead the party in negotiations over seat allocations with allied parties during the general election.
The nomination process for the Justice Party's re-election has ended, with Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim continuing as party president without challengers, while Anwar's daughter, Nurul Izzah, challenges Rafizi for the deputy president position.
