(Kanchanaburi, 19th) A total of 162 illegal migrant workers from Myanmar were arrested on Sunday in a forest area of Thong Pha Phum District, Kanchanaburi, while they were waiting to be transported to various provinces in Thailand and Malaysia for promised jobs.
Kanchanaburi Governor Athisarn Intra received notification at 9:30 a.m. that a group of illegal immigrants was hiding in a forested area near Tha Khanun village. It is reported that all of them were citizens who had entered from Myanmar illegally.
The Thong Pha Phum Special Task Force launched an operation based on intelligence and discovered the group of 162 immigrants, all of whom peacefully surrendered to the authorities.
According to statistics, among the arrested were 94 men, 57 women, and 11 youths aged between 15 and 18 years.
