Sarawak Launches the 13th Malaysia Plan, Prioritizing Accelerated Clean Energy Transition

(Kuching, 21st) The 13th Malaysia Plan (RMK-13) for Sarawak will be comprehensively promoted through ten core strategies, focusing on high-impact sectors to ensure continued, balanced, inclusive, and sustainable development in the state by 2030.
Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg stated that the primary focus is to accelerate the clean energy transition, including the establishment of an energy regulatory authority, the development of a Sarawak Hydrogen Hub, as well as strengthening the state's energy generation, transmission, and storage systems.
"Next, the government will also foster robust partnerships, strengthen local supply chains, and enhance the capabilities of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) to develop and attract strategic industries. The Kuching Low Carbon Zone and Baram Renewable Energy Economic Zone will become key drivers for sustainable growth."
He made these remarks while delivering a speech yesterday at the "Sarawak RMK-13 Launch Ceremony and 2025 Sarawak Economic Conference" held at the Sheraton Hotel in Kuching.
He further stated that by improving governance systems, optimizing regulatory coordination, and strengthening the public-private cooperation framework, Sarawak will be able to further boost investor confidence and increase private sector participation.
