(Selangor, 22nd) A video fabricated with artificial intelligence (AI) technology, depicting former national Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Acryl Sani receiving assistance from a "Datuk," is circulating online. Selangor police have vowed to thoroughly investigate.
Selangor Chief Police Officer Datuk Hussein issued a statement saying that the widely-circulated video on the TikTok platform is fake and was deliberately fabricated using artificial intelligence technology.
"The Subang Jaya Commercial Crime Investigation Unit found that a video has been widely circulated on TikTok, showing a man suspected to be the former national Inspector-General of Police, Tan Sri Acryl Sani, speaking. In reality, this video was forged using AI technology and is not genuine content."
He stated that Acryl Sani has already lodged a police report and has categorically denied the content of the video.
"The police remind the public not to forward the video in question and urge everyone to verify the authenticity of any social media content before sharing."
"Selangor police express serious concern over the use of artificial intelligence technology to spread false information and defame others, and will take strict action against anyone involved in disseminating false information."
The police will investigate the case under Section 419 of the Penal Code (cheating by impersonation) and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998 (improper use of network facilities or services).
