(Bandar Seri Begawan, 27th) The Royal Customs and Excise Department under Brunei's Ministry of Finance and Economy held the 2026 International Customs Day celebration yesterday at the department's headquarters.
This year's celebration theme is "Nurturing Society with Vigilance and Commitment," as proposed by the World Customs Organization (WCO).
The guest of honor attending the event was Acting Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Finance and Economy, Hajah Latifah. Also present were Acting Director of Customs and Excise, Mohammad Azizzul Hakim, as well as officials and staff of the Royal Customs and Excise Department.
The ceremony began with the guest of honor presiding over the inspection ceremony, followed by a welcoming speech by the Acting Director of Customs.
In his speech, he emphasized that the Royal Customs and Excise Department, as the pillar of national security and a promoter of fair trade, plays an essential role.
During the event, officials from the Royal Customs and Excise Department who have served for nine years were presented with epaulettes in recognition of their dedication and service.
The ceremony also featured the inauguration of the new Customs Agents Registration Office, which will provide more convenient, systematic, and efficient registration services for customs agents.
