A woman bought two cups of coffee at a coffee chain, but when she was close to finishing one of them, she found two black foreign objects at the bottom, which made her very uneasy. Even the staff could not confirm what those objects were, and netizens instead suspected that she had put them there herself.
According to a report by Chinese media 'Jing Shi Live', reporters contacted Ms. Qiu, who uploaded the video. She said that she and her friend bought two cups of coffee for 29.8 yuan (about RM17) through an app at a coffee chain in Wuhan.
However, when she was nearly done with the coffee, she saw two black objects at the bottom of the cup. She initially thought they were tapioca pearls, but upon closer inspection, found that they were soft plastic pieces that looked like parts from a stirrer.
She immediately contacted customer service and uploaded photos. The customer service attitude was very good, and later they also contacted her and provided a refund and a gift voucher. The shop checked the CCTV footage, but could not find out what those plastic pieces were.
Although she received a refund and a gift voucher, her mind was full of questions about what those objects were. Did they accidentally fall in during the production process? Or was there a problem with the ingredients themselves? Since it concerns food safety, she posted online to see if netizens could help identify them.
However, some netizens raised doubts, noting that since there were such large foreign objects in the cup, the staff should have easily noticed them during preparation, so they suspected Ms. Qiu herself had put them in.
In response, Ms. Qiu said, "I guarantee on my character that I would never do such a thing."
Reporters from Jing Shi Live called the national customer service as consumers. The customer service staff confirmed they had received the issue raised by Ms. Qiu and had documented it. Relevant staff members are now actively handling the matter.
