Fatal Accident in Kampung Varless Claims Life of Foreign Pedestrian

(Miri, 13th) A fatal car accident occurred at around 11:30 PM last night in Kampung Varless, Miri. A car collided with a pedestrian, resulting in the pedestrian's instant death.

Miri Police District Chief, Assistant Commissioner Lee Bing Qiang, confirmed receiving a report regarding the incident. Preliminary police investigations revealed that the deceased was a 36-year-old foreign male. At the time of the incident, he was suspected to be crossing the middle of the road on the Kampung Varless stretch, intending to head towards Kampung Varless, when he was unfortunately struck by a passing car.

It is understood that the car involved was driven by a 37-year-old local woman, who was traveling from the direction of Miri Airport towards Tuba at the time of the incident. The driver was not injured in the accident.

Police stated that the case is currently being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
