Hollywood actor Shia LaBeouf, who has appeared in the movie “Transformers,” has repeatedly exhibited out-of-control behavior, with increasingly erratic incidents drawing widespread disapproval.
Recently, during Mardi Gras in New Orleans, he was arrested by police after causing a disturbance while intoxicated and allegedly assaulting two men outside a bar. The court has now issued its latest ruling: after posting bail of up to $100,000 (about 388,000 ringgit), he must be mandatorily admitted to a rehabilitation center for alcohol and drug treatment, and undergo regular drug and alcohol testing.
According to foreign media reports, the 39-year-old Shia LaBeouf became involved in a physical altercation outside a bar in New Orleans in the early morning hours of February 18. He allegedly lost control of his emotions after drinking for an extended period, not only assaulting passersby but was also accused of shouting loudly and making discriminatory remarks during the altercation and subsequent arrest. Police stated that one of the victims even suffered a dislocated nasal bone, and the incident has attracted significant public attention locally.
The case was heard in court on February 26. The presiding judge of the New Orleans Criminal District Court expressed her greatest concern that Shia LaBeouf poses a potential danger to the victims and the broader community—especially since his words and deeds have posed a threat to vulnerable groups. Therefore, she ruled to increase the bail amount and impose strict conditions.
