The new book The Last Kings of Hollywood: Coppola, Lucas, Spielberg, and the Battle for the Soul of American Cinema reveals little-known secrets from the early careers of three major Hollywood directors—Francis Ford Coppola, Steven Spielberg, and George Lucas—including claims that Spielberg once wanted to make a sexual comedy version of Snow White.
According to the book, during a first dinner meeting between Spielberg, Lucas, and Coppola in 1969, a 22-year-old Spielberg expressed a desire to adapt Disney's animated film Snow White into a sexual comedy. He even set the story in modern times, featuring the Seven Dwarfs as owners of a Chinese food factory who end up living with Snow White until a 'Prince Charming' arrives—a highly controversial theme. Spielberg submitted this story idea to Universal Pictures, but a few weeks later the studio decided not to proceed with the film.#
