Two Malaysian men suspected of assisting a scam syndicate were arrested by local enforcement authorities in Thailand for setting up a scam call center.

Authorities seized more than 46 Sim Boxes and related equipment.

According to reports, the two arrested suspects are from Penang, aged 25 and 37. The suspects claimed that the equipment was used for storing CCTV footage and denied involvement in scam activities.

The suspects are currently charged with the illegal importation of telecommunications equipment and possession of undeclared goods.

Authorities intercepted a Malaysian-registered SUV at a checkpoint on Kanchanavanich Road in Sadao District, Songkhla Province, at 4:30 PM on the 15th of this month. Inside the car trunk, they discovered four Sim Boxes equipped with SIM cards, along with routers that were used in conjunction with the devices.

Following further intelligence provided by the suspects, police raided an apartment in Sadao and found another four fully functioning Sim Boxes, along with 46 related telecommunications devices suspected to have been recently installed.

Authorities noted that the equipment was suspected to have been smuggled in from a neighboring country and hidden inside speakers to evade detection during searches.
