(Bandar Seri Begawan, 8th) Southeast Asia’s first net-zero emission shrimp farm and artificial intelligence integration center was officially completed in Brunei on Monday, marking a significant milestone in the fusion of sustainable aquaculture and smart agriculture. The project was jointly developed by shrimp farming company Jets Sdn Bhd and its parent company, together with leading digital asset provider DABANC Group.
Guests attending the ceremony included the Minister at the Prime Minister's Office and Second Minister of Finance and Economy, Dato Seri Setia Dr. Awang Haji Mohd Amin Liew Abdullah, and Minister of Primary Resources and Tourism, Dato Seri Setia Dr. Haji Abdul Manaf.
This initiative represents a groundbreaking combination of solar-powered aquaculture, next-generation blue shrimp breeding, and AI-driven management, setting a new benchmark for green, intelligent aquaculture in the ASEAN region. The facility utilizes renewable energy and integrates smart water quality monitoring, AI-based disease prediction, and production optimization technologies, aiming to achieve zero carbon emissions in its operations.
The center will also serve as a regional hub for technological innovation and talent cultivation, fostering cooperation among ASEAN countries.
The opening ceremony attracted representatives from government, academia, industry, and international organizations, and was widely recognized as a milestone initiative for promoting the green economy, food security, and AI-driven development in the ASEAN region.
Jets Sdn Bhd is the operating subsidiary of a joint venture established with the Ministry of Finance and Economy through the Strategic Development Capital (SDC Fund) under the Ministry of Investment. The company is an aquaculture enterprise focused on farming the unique Rostris blue shrimp at several locations in Brunei for domestic supply and export.
DABANC is an investment company headquartered in Hong Kong, with offices in China, Sarawak, Brunei, and the USA. The DABANC Group’s current investment focuses on four key areas: large-scale AI data centers, green energy, blockchain/cryptocurrency, and digital banking.
