Korean star Kim Soo-hyun, after the controversy early last month over dating the late actress Kim Sae-ron when she was underage, held a press conference, tearfully emphasizing that they began dating after she was of age. He also filed a defamation lawsuit against Kim Sae-ron's family and the YouTube channel 'Horizontal Research Institute', seeking compensation.
Recently, reports suggested that Kim Soo-hyun, previously endorsing over 20 commercials, had all of them withdrawn, causing a significant economic burden on his agency 'GOLDMEDALIST'. It was even rumored that the company's operating funds had reached a minimum level, resulting in the cessation of service contracts with external cleaning companies.
However, according to an audit report released by the Financial Supervisory Service on the 20th, 'GOLDMEDALIST' had a sales revenue of approximately 21.65376 billion KRW (about 67.10 million MYR) last year, with an operating profit of 2.75938 billion KRW (about 8.55 million MYR), showing an increase of 61.7% and 48.4% respectively compared to 2023. This marks the first time the company's sales exceeded 20 billion KRW since its establishment, with a net profit of 2.21870 billion KRW (about 6.87 million MYR) for the period, and it still holds a reserve fund of 4.77382 billion KRW (about 14.79 million MYR), contrary to external rumors of financial difficulties.
Related parties also stated that the profits generated by Kim Soo-hyun last year are equivalent to the sales revenue earned by 'GOLDMEDALIST'. As a top-tier actor, the revenue split between him and his agency usually ranges from 8:2 to 10:0, making 'GOLDMEDALIST' almost equivalent to a one-man company focused on Kim Soo-hyun. Even if the company faced financial pressures, the revenues generated by Kim Soo-hyun during this period were sufficient to cover them.
