The U.S. Senate failed to pass a temporary spending bill on the local date of the 3rd, and the federal government continues its "shutdown."

The U.S. federal government "shut down" on October 1 due to depleted funds. This marks the first U.S. federal government "shutdown" since 2019.

According to China News Service, in the vote that day, there were 54 votes in favor and 44 against; the number of votes in favor failed to reach the required 60, and the temporary spending bill was not passed. Among the votes, three Democratic senators joined the Republican side to vote in favor, while one Republican senator joined the Democratic side to vote against. This temporary spending bill had previously passed the House of Representatives.

Regarding the temporary spending bill, Democrats are still insisting on the inclusion of additional provisions on healthcare funding, otherwise they will not support it. Senate Minority Leader and Democrat Schumer said that day that Republicans refused to negotiate with Democrats, leading to the repeated failure of the votes.

As a result of the federal government "shutdown," about 750,000 federal employees have been forced to take unpaid leave, and various public services have come to a standstill. National parks and the aviation system have been affected.

In the capital Washington, several popular attractions have been "closed" due to the government "shutdown," including the Capitol, the Washington Monument, and the Library of Congress. Several tourists told reporters that they came to Washington specifically for tourism, and they were "shocked and disappointed" by the "shutdown" of attractions caused by the government "shutdown."
