(Bandar Seri Begawan, 23rd) Acting High Commissioner of India to Brunei, Mr. Meenon, stated that yoga is a gift for everyone, regardless of age or background.
Mr. Meenon made these remarks yesterday at the 11th International Yoga Day gathering held at the residence of the High Commission of India to Brunei, India House.
He noted that practicing yoga is beneficial for health and well-being, cultivates inner balance, and enhances overall happiness.
This year’s event was held with the theme “Yoga, One Earth, One Health,” emphasizing the growing importance of yoga in promoting harmony, sustainable development, and holistic health.
He pointed out that since 2015, Prime Minister Modi of India had proposed to the United Nations to regard yoga as a universal path to physical and mental health, and International Yoga Day activities have been held every year since then.
This event brought together community members, youth, yoga enthusiasts, diplomatic corps members, and friends of India.
This gathering serves as a reminder that personal health is closely linked to the well-being of the planet—a sentiment that echoes the Indian philosophical saying by Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam: “The world is one family.”
The highlight of the event was a live yoga demonstration conducted by yoga master Bramhanand Tichkule. Bramhanand Tichkule is an experienced yoga instructor who has dedicated himself to nurturing Brunei’s yoga community.
Under his guidance, participants engaged in a yoga session that emphasized harmony of body, mind, and spirit.
Mr. Meenon also announced that a yoga teacher from India will soon be joining to regularly conduct free yoga classes.
