(Bandar Seri Begawan, 23rd) Pei Ying Primary School successfully held a unique Mandarin Recitation Competition today, where the vast majority of participants were non-Chinese students, who showcased their talents by reciting Chinese poetry. The event not only demonstrated their learning achievements but also provided a platform for displaying the charm of the language.
The competition mainly featured students from Years 2, 3, and 4, with a special focus on team events centered around collective recitation in groups of four. Non-Chinese students vividly demonstrated the fruitful results of the school's Chinese language education on stage.
The student group competition was particularly outstanding. Students not only recited poetry, but also integrated a variety of creative forms such as "reading, acting, chanting, and singing." They ingeniously crafted their own props and paired them with distinctive costumes, creatively and expressively bringing the artistic conception of poetry to the stage. The programs were brilliant, fully reflecting the teachers' ingenuity and the students' passionate participation.
Non-Chinese teachers also showcased their personal talents, setting an example by encouraging students to learn multiple languages, highlighting the diversity and vitality of the school teaching team.
School founder and board chairperson Dr. Hsu Yen Ing attended in person, and all levels of principals, vice-principals, directors, and other school leaders were present. Along with the enthusiastic presence of many parents who cheered for their children, the scene was both lively and warm.
The event specially invited renowned cultural expert Shen Renxiang and well-known radio host Huang Meiting as judges. Their professional perspective and rich experience ensured that the competition was conducted fairly, justly, and to a high standard.
