(United States, 18th) An explosion occurred outside a fertility clinic in California on the 17th, resulting in 1 death and 5 injuries. The local mayor claims it was a bomb attack.
According to Agence France-Presse, the explosion took place in downtown Palm Springs, with a total of 5 people injured, but the severity and nature of the injuries have not been disclosed.
Police believe this was a suspected deliberate act.
Palm Springs Police Chief Mills said: “This explosion appears to be a deliberate act of violence, affecting several blocks, with multiple buildings damaged and some severely destroyed.”
He said: “One person has died, and the identity of the deceased is yet to be confirmed.”
The clinic stated in a social media post that a car exploded in the parking lot near the clinic, and all employees inside the center were unharmed.
In the United States, reproductive medical services, including abortion and infertility treatment, continue to be controversial. Some conservatives advocate for the prohibition of these medical procedures based on religious beliefs.
Although violent incidents targeting clinics that provide such services are rare, they are not unheard of.
