427 People in Hong Kong Receive Honours and Awards from Chief Executive

The Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) Government announced on the 1st the 2025 honours list, with a total of 427 people receiving honours and awards from Chief Executive John Lee Ka-chiu this year.

Since July 1, 1997, the Hong Kong government has adopted an honours and awards system to recognize individuals who have made outstanding contributions to Hong Kong or who have demonstrated remarkable achievements in serving the Hong Kong community and the public. The government also awards medals for bravery to honor individuals who have shown exceptional courage. Well-known figures such as Jackie Chan and Andy Lau have previously been awarded the Silver Bauhinia Star.

According to reports from CCTV News and the official website of the HKSAR Government, this year’s honours list includes 427 recipients from different social strata and backgrounds, benefiting all sectors and segments of society.

Among them, 3 people have been awarded the Grand Bauhinia Medal. They are Frank Wu Siu-po, Chairman and Founder of Economic Daily Group; Yang Zhao, Chairman of Glorious Sun Group; and Anthony Wu Ting-yuk, former Chairman of the Hospital Authority.

In addition, 20 people received the Gold Bauhinia Star, 29 the Silver Bauhinia Star, 46 the Bronze Bauhinia Star, 3 the Bronze Medal for Bravery, 58 received Distinguished or Meritorious Service Medals for the Disciplined Services and ICAC, 111 received the Medal of Honour, and 157 were awarded the Chief Executive's Commendation for Community Service or Public Service.

John Lee congratulated all the award recipients and thanked them for their significant contributions to Hong Kong, expressing hope that they will continue to excel in their respective fields and serve the community.

The honours presentation ceremony will be held later this year.
