Thailand's caretaker Prime Minister Anutin stated on the 2nd that the Thai government has activated evacuation plans to provide assistance and evacuation help to overseas Thai nationals who may be affected.
He called on all parties to prioritize resolving disputes through diplomatic negotiations and dialogue to avoid further escalation of conflict, emphasizing that Thailand hopes the world can return to peace as soon as possible. Amid the current complex situation, the Thai government continues to closely monitor developments.
He revealed that the National Security Council of Thailand held a meeting on the 2nd to discuss and finally determine support and evacuation measures for overseas Thai citizens. Relevant departments are on standby, including the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Defense, Ministry of Labor, Ministry of Interior, Ministry of Public Health, and the Ministry of Finance.
Regarding evacuation preparations, Anutin said the public need not worry excessively, as the Royal Thai Air Force has confirmed its capability to carry out evacuation missions. The most important thing right now is coordination of information among departments, trying as much as possible to verify the locations of Thai citizens abroad, and arranging safe gathering and evacuation points, jointly implemented by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the military.
He acknowledged that the escalation of the Middle East situation may affect the Thai economy, and the government is studying measures to mitigate the impact on the public, including controlling the cost of living and stabilizing energy prices.
He pointed out that instructions have already been given to caretaker Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Enidi to formulate contingency plans for various possible scenarios, and emphasized the need to make full use of the National Oil Fund to best protect the interests of Thai consumers.
