Man Who Walked Naked in Sibu City Center Undergoing Psychiatric Treatment

(Sibu, 2nd) The man who recently went viral on social media for allegedly walking naked in Sibu city center is currently receiving treatment in the psychiatric ward at Sibu Hospital.

Sibu Police Chief, Abang Zainal Abidin Abang Ahmad, said in a statement yesterday that police investigations found that the man has been admitted to Sibu Hospital and is now undergoing treatment.

He said: “Police have confirmed with Sibu Hospital regarding the man's admission and treatment, and will obtain the medical report as well as a specialist doctor's professional assessment to assist in the case investigation.”

He stated that police will decide whether to open a case for investigation only after seeking and obtaining legal advice.

He also urged the public not to speculate on the incident, and not to continue disseminating photos or videos related to the event, so as not to cause public unrest or distress to the family involved.

Abang Zainal also reminded the public to use social media responsibly, as those who spread illegal content may, where applicable, be subject to action under Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998 (Act 588).
