(Miri, 9th) Sarawak Democratic Action Party will hold its 2025 Annual General Meeting on October 26, 2025 (Sunday) at the Bintulu Luxury Grand Restaurant, where eligible representatives and observers from all branches across Sarawak will participate in this grand event.
Sarawak DAP Secretary Ling Sie Kian stated that the second notice of the meeting was sent out by mail on September 26 (Friday) to all branches and to eligible representatives as stipulated by the party constitution.
He said that this year's AGM not only aims to strengthen unity among party members, but also serves as an important platform to formulate strategies and directions in preparation for the Sarawak state election anticipated in 2026.
Ling pointed out: “This year’s meeting is expected to become a significant occasion for interaction between the Sarawak leadership and grassroots members. It is also a platform to exchange views, reinforce connections, and ignite political passion.”
He acknowledged that the political situation in Sarawak is challenging but emphasized that DAP will continue to uphold its beliefs.
“It is undeniable that Sarawak’s political environment is quite tough. However, we currently have two state assemblymen in the state legislature and five Members of Parliament at the federal level. We must not give up; we must keep working hard to increase our representation in the Sarawak State Assembly.”
Ling added that the debate sessions during the meeting will give representatives the opportunity to express their views, further strengthening the party’s grassroots organizational power.
He emphasized that Sarawak DAP must ensure we are united, well-prepared, and filled with fighting spirit to meet the coming state election challenge.
He also called upon all representatives to register early with the AGM organizing chairman, Chiew Chang Yew (Tel: 017-8178007), and to attend the AGM actively, as this is expected to be the last AGM before the state election.
Ling further noted that the active participation of representatives and observers is crucial to strengthening the party’s agenda and goals in Sarawak.
