(China, 8th) Several current master's and doctoral students at China's Sichuan University have jointly reported Professor Wang Zhuqing, accusing him of academic misconduct, personal attacks on students, making pro-Japanese remarks, among other allegations, and have submitted an 83-page report. Sichuan University stated that it has formed a dedicated team and launched an investigation. However, the allegations have not yet been substantiated, and Wang Zhuqing has not responded.

Public information shows that Wang Zhuqing is a specially-appointed researcher at the School of Mechanical Engineering at Sichuan University, a doctoral supervisor, an independent PI professor at the "Medical + Manufacturing" platform, and an expert in the field of MEMS (Micro-Electro-Mechanical Systems). Notably, he earned his doctorate in Japan, worked for many years in Japan, and is a returned overseas scholar.

Wang Zhuqing obtained his bachelor's and master's degrees at Dalian University of Technology, pursued and received his PhD at Yamanashi University in Japan. After obtaining his PhD, Wang Zhuqing worked in Japan for many years, serving as a researcher at Kyoto University Graduate School of Engineering, a materials science researcher at Japan Advanced Institute of Science and Technology, a researcher and assistant professor at Tohoku Gakuin University, and a special researcher and assistant professor for industry-academia collaboration at Tohoku University Graduate School of Engineering.

According to comprehensive Chinese media reports, the reasons Wang Zhuqing was reported include allegations of academic fraud, embezzlement of research funds, long-term exploitation of students, with one claim of "pro-Japan political stance" sparking overwhelming online discussion.

The report claims that Wang Zhuqing holds permanent residency in Japan and has repeatedly made pro-Japan remarks in daily communication. He is further accused of scheduling the opening ceremony of a China-Japan-Korea international conference on September 18, a sensitive date, which was seen as "disregarding the wounds of national history."

The report also alleges that "an international MEMS conference held in Taiwan has clear political inclination issues, yet Wang Zhuqing encourages large-scale submissions, and criticizes teachers and students who, out of political conviction, refuse to submit; he has persistently circulated information in work groups promoting Japanese spirit and culture for students to study."

On the 6th, the Human Resources Office of Sichuan University issued an announcement on its official website, stating, "The university attaches great importance to this matter, has established a dedicated working group, and initiated investigation procedures in accordance with regulations. If the issues raised are confirmed, the university will handle them strictly, show no leniency, and ensure a positive and upright educational environment."
