Blood Donors are the 'Heartbeat' of the City's Medical System - Adam Yii: Worthy of Respect from All Society

(Miri, 14th) Miri Mayor Adam Yii stated that blood donors are an indispensable force in Miri's urban medical system. Their selfless dedication, willingness to donate a portion of their blood for strangers, reflects the most beautiful side of humanity, deserving respect and gratitude from all society.

He mentioned this while attending the opening ceremony of the "2025 Blood Donor Appreciation and Thank You Celebration" organized by the Malaysian Red Crescent Society Miri Chapter, pointing out that the event coincides with World Blood Donor Day and aims to recognize the contributions of numerous enthusiastic blood donors to society.

"On behalf of the Miri City Council, and all community partners, local associations, non-governmental organizations, and corporate groups, I extend my gratitude to everyone for the tremendous support of the blood donation campaign over the past year. It is because of everyone’s collective efforts that Miri can become a community filled with love, unity, and a sense of responsibility."

He emphasized that every successful blood donation event is the best reflection of community collaboration, care, and civic responsibility. Whether it's large corporations, local associations, or a spontaneously organized group of friends, every contribution is worthy of acknowledgment.

"I want to say to all donors: you are the 'heartbeat' of our city's medical system. Your willingness to give a part of yourself to help strangers you have never met is a bold, committed, and generous act that commands heartfelt admiration."

Adam Yii also expressed special thanks to the Miri Hospital Blood Bank team under the diligent leadership of Dr. Aklina, ensuring that every blood donation activity is conducted safely and professionally to protect the health and safety of both donors and recipients.

He stated that this year’s World Blood Donor Day theme—"Donate Blood, Transmit Hope: Together We Save Lives"—serves as a reminder that blood donation is not only an act of saving lives but also a concrete expression of building a healthier and more caring society. He urged the younger generation to continue supporting and participating in blood donation activities, making "willingness to donate, caring for others" a pride and spiritual symbol of Miri citizens.
