(Bandar Seri Begawan, 26th) The 2025 Baiduri Masters Golf Tournament is set to kick off soon, with Baiduri Bank Group officially announcing that the event will be held from August 1st to 3rd and August 8th to 10th at Pantai Mentiri Golf Club. Golf enthusiasts from all walks of life are warmly invited to participate in this annual event that blends sportsmanship with charitable causes.
As one of the most anticipated golf tournaments in the country, competitors will vie for the honorary green jacket and challenge trophy, while also raising funds for local charitable organizations, continuing the tournament’s tradition of “swinging for love.”
Recalling the glory of the previous year, 2024 men’s champion Irwan still remembers the moment vividly. He shared: “It felt like a dream; I’m truly grateful that years of hard work finally paid off.”
Irwan has been dedicated to golf since childhood, participating in the Baiduri Masters multiple times and learning to maintain calm under pressure. He recalls that in the closing stages, the cheers from the crowd gave him immense confidence, reminding him of the support behind him.
Women’s champion Almas, who began practicing golf at the age of eight, competed in the junior category of the Baiduri Masters during her student years. She noted that combining running and swing training has been key to her success. For her, more than achieving victory, it is important to bring positive change to society through participation.
Both champions agreed that the charitable aspect of the tournament is their biggest motivation to continue competing. This year, all registration fees will be donated to five local organizations, including the Child Development Centre (CDC), SMARTER, Brunei Darussalam National Association of the Blind (BDNAB), La Vida, and Learning Ladders Society, supporting their work in therapy, education, and inclusive development.
The tournament will also feature an exciting “hole-in-one” grand prize, with rewards including a BMW iX, Porsche Macan EV, MINI Aceman, and a cash prize of BND 20,000. An appreciation dinner will be held after the event, with award presentations and lucky draw prizes.
Players can register via the official website at www.maribali.com.bn/baiduri-bank to enjoy a $5 online registration discount and support eco-friendly paper reduction. On-site registration is also available but requires full payment to secure a spot. Registration forms can also be downloaded from www.baiduri.com.bn/baiduri-masters.
When asked if he would defend his title, Irwan replied firmly, “Of course, I can’t let them take the trophy so easily.” Almas also laughed and said, “God willing, I will give my all.”
Both encourage new participants: “Enjoy the tournament and remember that the process matters more than the outcome.” They believe that every swing is a contribution to society.
Registration is now open to all, from beginners to seasoned players, inviting everyone to add vibrancy to both sporting spirit and social care.
